I should be apologetic at the very outset that there maybe very little of the traces of what Sri Aurobindo calls future poetry, neither the rhythm, nor the music, in these lines drafted in the last few years. The lines are sometimes bare without the traditional system of images. Instead, they aim at communicating an emotion or a set of emotional sequences. Taken together, they image a state of mind, not quite joyful, rather reminiscent of the dark verses of the “Ecclesiastes”, without its sweeping rhythm. The meaning forms the structure of imagery.
