It is a pleasure to write a few words on little Joel’s anthology of poems, a fascinating juvenilia, which I enjoyed reading, feeling hopeful about the prospect of Indian English Poetry in the soil of the northern part of West Bengal. Joel can be both subjective and objective, which is a surprising achievement for her age. Anyone who writes poetry in English has always been my favourite, because I wish to see a readership growing in Bengal for poetry in English. I see promissory hints in Joel’s poetry, especially when I find lines like “There have been demons dancing inside me”, “And make a promise that I won’t love again”, and “So wrap me inside your warmth” .

All good wishes for the little poet.
